The Beach
Hiram has a recreation area with woodland trails and a beach below the great falls dam. It is not signed anywhere and is mainly deserted
Middle Bedroom With Contents Cleared Out
The hardboard on the ceiling suggests that the entire thing was in the process of collapsing, as we see in the master bedroom. Rather than repair it, it was boarded over.

Barn Following Initial Cleanup
This was taken after we had finished filling the dumpster with things from the barn, but prior to relocating the furniture from the house.
Rear Views
A view from the back corner of the house, showing the neighbor's barn.
Oil Forced Air Heating in Kitchen
This unit was installed around 1980 and was originally designed for use in a trailer

Cold Cellar
View of the cold cellar. The original stairs collapsed during the realtor's original listing visit. Contains an oil tank for the (now removed) furnace, and at one time had the well pressure tank and pump. The sand visible on the floor is debris from the foundation wall on the left that is decaying. The temporary ladder access will be replaced with a fixed ladder. In its original form, the cold cellar had a dumb waiter from the kitchen to move supplies. This area will house the new well pressure system and water treatment equipment once completed.
Kitchen Floor Removed
Multiple layers of linoleum removed, showing the original wooden floor. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to save the kitchen floor due to significant staining from the oil-fired heating unit in other parts of the room.

"Dining Room"
The room we have designated as the dining room with all the floor covering removed. Different sized coverings have obviously been present during the room's history. The area around the chimney confirms there used to be a stove here.

Side Extension
A view of the side extension. This was added at some point after the construction of the main house, but we are uncertain how long. The light switches are the same era as the main house, but rather oddly located by the window. This is one of the parts of the building that has foundation problems. The slope of the floor and ceiling is clearly visible. This sinking is one of the first things we need to address before doing anything else internally.
Furniture To Be Restored
Furniture from the second floor prior to relocation to a new medium-term home in the barn. Some of these items will be refinished and retained, the others most likely sold to fund the house restoration.
Tin Ceiling
The tin ceiling in all three downstairs rooms was installed over battens installed over the original lath and plaster ceiling. Tin became popular in the mid-1800s as North America's answer to the ornate plaster ceilings used in Europe. It is not clear yet if the ceilings were original or were an "upgrade" installed sometime in the early part of the 20th century.
Front Room
Referred to elsewhere in the photos as the "living room".
