Mold visible following removal of the now-familiar cardboard roof panels. Evidence indicates that the roof was leaking several decades ago, and no attempt was made to repair it. The damaged sections were simply overlaid with battens and cardboard sheets. This is a fairly common theme in the house.
Side extension corner showing leak where the roof meets the main house. Most of this damage appears to be historical.
View from the "ante-room" after removal of plaster and lath from both rooms. Second-floor knob and tube wiring is visible. The significant water damage from the chimney leaks is very evident from the strapping. Quite apart from the leaks, the structure of the chimney itself seems compromised, with significant deterioration of the mortar at the first of the bends (just out of view behind the beams.
